Foodco™ started the development of Food Cost Control Software in 1981 and has literally been the pioneer in Food Service Software. Foodco™ has always strived to be the very best and to use all the latest technology. In 1988 we realized that because of the tremendous advancement in computers and in programming technology that even though we had a very effective Food Cost Program, we were no longer STATE-OF-THE-ART and it wasn't possible to get there from where we were.
As a result we elected to completely rewrite Foodco™ using the very latest in programming technology under the DOS environment. Over the next three years with programmers working around the clock and with an investment of nearly a half million dollars, Foodco™ 5.0 was introduced in late 1991.
We have continued to develop version 5 of the Foodco software, which has advanced to version 5.5N since the initial release in 1991. Foodco has continued adding addition features for different companies and customizing their unique needs.
In 1994 the Windows technology was moving forward rapidly and Windows 95/98 was soon to be on the horizon, we knew that if we did not get on the stick, that we would soon find ourselves left behind if we did not have a Windows based product for our customers. Rather than developing a standard Windows 3.x based product we decided to move towards Windows 95/NT as the working environment for the new release of Foodco 6.0 and the development began soon after.
Because Foodco 5.x had become such a comprehensive program, accommodating the needs for our existing customer base and the variety of different interfaces to Food Suppliers/Vendors, POS systems, and Accounting software packages, Foodco 6.0 had to be developed with all of this in mind. Foodco 6.0 is very flexible, more comprehensive and even more user friendly. This program has most of the same features as our V.5 series plus all of the newest technology available today and many, many features which version 5.5 didn't have.
We have been working continuously on imporving and updating Foodco 6 since the initial 6.0 release. We generally release an update every 3-4 months. We are now on version 6.5.
